Police move against kidnapping in Rivers State
The Rivers State Police Command under the leadership of Mr. Bala Hassan last weekend despached no fewer than 400 police and millitary personnel to areas in the state where hospitality business thrives in an attempt to stop millitants from kidnaping guests before and after the yuletide period. According to a source, Interligence report revealed to LAGOS WEEKEND suspected millitants and hoodlums have perfected various strategies to use the yuletide period to achieve their aims. The source disclosed that police detectives and other personnel in uniform have been despatched to big hotels such like the Presidential, Protea and Maro City Hotels, to protect guests in these places.

Top police chiefs in the state said to be leading various teams of policemen to ensure a crime-free and hitchfree yuletide period includes, Mr. Habila Joshak, Mr. Makama Bashir and the Comander Mopol 19, Alhaji Garba Umar. According to a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) who pleaded anonymity, the police move to curb the excesses of the millitants and criminals in the state, would not have yielded any fruits if not for the fact that persons such as the state governor, Mr.Rotimi Amaechi and a well known businessman, Mr. Apo Marine, are assisting the police both financially and morally. Confirming the presence of additional security operatives sent to these areas, the senior police officer enjoined other state commands to emulate the Rivers State Command.
